Abstract
Stimulated Raman scattering is used in a Fourier setup to transfer spa tial information from the exciting laser wavelength to a Raman laser w avelength. The influence of the Raman phase is demonstrated. After suf ficient amplification, the Raman phase fluctuations produced by the in itial noise are much smaller than the propagating phase. A stable Rama n phase transverse profile is built, permitting the transfer of inform ation from a laser object to a Raman image. (C) 1997 Optical Society o f America.
