Abstract
Large cross-section reaction channels were measured in the systems Li-6(Li- 7) + Pb-208 With high statistical accuracy at 5(3) energies around the Coul omb barrier from 29 to 39 MeV. These channels were assigned (mainly) to the breakup of Li-6, very loosely bound, into alpha + d and to the breakup of Li-5, produced by n-transfer to the target, into alpha + p and to similar p rocesses with Li-7 beam. The cross-sections with Li-6, S-alpha = 1.475 MeV, are systematically larger than the Li-7 ones. This reflects, most likely, the higher binding energy of Li-7, S-alpha = 2.468 MeV. Theoretical predict ions for the Li-6 + Pb-208 system which include for Li-6 breakup to continu um states within a continuum discretized coupled-channels approach (CDCC) a nd resonant breakup plus n-transfer with DWBA reproduce the angular distrib ution shapes but still underestimate the cross-sections by a factor similar to 3.
