We performed time resolved photoluminescence measurements to investigate an
influence of host atoms on the emission of Mn impurities in It-Vt superlat
tices. The time variation of the Mn emission has a long tail after photopul
se excitation. The lifetime of the emission strongly depend on the spin orb
it interaction with the host atom. The lifetime in II-VI superlattices diff
ers from that in single crystalline materials. The decay curve of the super
lattices is not a single exponential, affected by the recombination process
of excited carriers. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
