K. Kageyama et al., Changes in plasma antiproteases in paraquat poisoned rats using micro two-dimensional electrophoretic analysis, VET HUM TOX, 43(6), 2001, pp. 321-326
Rats were subjected to subacute paraoquat (PQ) exposure (7 mg/kg sc claim f
or 6-9 administrations). They were divided into a group that died from suba
cute toxicity, a group that recovered from the subacute toxicity and progre
ssed to pulmonary fibrosis, and a group that showed no effects from the PQ.
The rats with subacute fatal toxicity had a remarkable increase in a(2)M-I
. Those which progressed to pulmonary fibrosis had remarkable decreases in
a(2)M-2, a2M-3, and a(2)M-4 and a(1)AT. The rats that showed no effects fro
m the PQ had relative increases in all molecular species of a(2)M. Increase
s in major a(2)M molecular species,a(2)M-I and a(2)M-4, and a minor molecul
ar species,a(2)M-3, were characteristically observed.
