Abstract
This work studies experimentally the influence of a laser gradient field on fluorescence correlation spectroscopy measurements. Results show that the derived diffusion time for particles across the detection volume increases almost linearly with the strength of the, gradient field. The derived numbe r of fluorescing particles in the detection volume also increases with the field. The larger the polarizability of the particles, the bigger the effec ts of the gradient field.
