Abstract
Here the authors use a no-chip finishing process - the burnishing process - to reduce the surface roughness. The effects of various parameters on the surface roughness of aluminum (Al) alloy burnished with a cylindrical surfa ced polycrystalline diamond (PCD) tool were studied. Problems in selecting the optimum burnishing parameters and conditions were discussed. In the exp eriment, the outstripping phenomenon was found.
