Here the authors use a no-chip finishing process - the burnishing process -
to reduce the surface roughness. The effects of various parameters on the
surface roughness of aluminum (Al) alloy burnished with a cylindrical surfa
ced polycrystalline diamond (PCD) tool were studied. Problems in selecting
the optimum burnishing parameters and conditions were discussed. In the exp
eriment, the outstripping phenomenon was found. Some conditions of the burn
ishing process in which the outstripping phenomenon occurred were determine
