Abstract
Manganese carbonyl complexes bearing dibenzophospholyl (DBP) and 1-phenyldi benzophosphole (Ph-DBP) ligands have been prepared. Reaction of Li-DBP with Mn(CO)(5)Br gave (mu (2)-DBP)(mu (2)-Br)Mn-2(CO)(8), while reaction of bis (1,1'-dibenzophospholyl) and Mn-2(CO)(10) yielded (mu (2)-DBP)(2)Mn-2(CO)(8 ). The phosphine adducts (Ph-DBP)Mn-2(CO)(9) and (Ph-DBP)(2)Mn-2(CO)(8) wer e obtained by reaction of Ph-DBP and Mn-2(CO)(10). The ligands are sigma -b onded through the phosphorus atom in all complexes. The compounds were char acterized by H-1, C-13, and P-31 NMR and IR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry , and X-ray diffraction.
