Abstract
Temperature dependence of the proton fraction in beta -stable hot neutron s tars matter is investigated within the framework of the Skyrme-Hartree-Fock theory using the extended Skyrme effective interaction. It is found that t he proton fraction decreases with increasing temperature. This phenomenon i s determined mainly by the temperature dependence of the nuclear matter sym metry energy within the present theoretical framework.
