Abstract
Psychotherapy supervision is one of the most important avenues through whic h residents learn psychotherapy. However, instruction on how to effectively use supervision is minimal. Described here is a one-session introduction t o supervision designed to help students prepare for their supervision exper iences. A questionnaire revealed that residents had no previous education r egarding supervision, Most helpful for trainees were the topics of characte ristics of good supervisors, addressing problems in supervision, and the su pervision contract/agreement. The session helped trainees feel more comfort able and more open in supervision, anti prompted them to try different supe rvision modalities. It is recommended that this program be tried in other r esidency programs.
