Crystallization of La2/3Ba1/3MnO3+delta oxide, which resulted in a twin-typ
e lamella microstructure, was studied in the present work. Thermomechanical
and high-temperature x-ray diffraction analyses revealed that the twin cry
stallization occurred at 548 K. The saturation magnetization of the twin-gr
ained La2/3Ba1/3MnO3+delta oxide was shown much higher than the nontwin oxi
des. This is probably due to the easy alignment of the domains by the rearr
angement of the dislocations in the twin-grain boundaries. (C) 2001 America
