Abstract
The extracavity and intracavity second-harmonic generation (SHG) of 1.06 mu m in Sr doped GdCa4O(BO3)(3) (GdCOB) cut for phase-matching direction of (t heta, phi) = (66.81,132.3 degrees) was investigated. With a 6-mm-long cryst al, the extracavity SHG efficiency reached 55%. In the case of intracavity SHG in an end-pumped Nd:YVO4 laser, 2.3 W of CW SHG power was obtained with an optical conversion efficiency of 17.7%. It was found that the effective nonlinear coefficient (d(eff)) is increased by a factor of 1.15-1.17 compa red to the undoped GdCOB crystal. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
