Abstract
Osteonecrosis has shown an increased incidence in HIV-infected patients dur ing the last few years, and has been looked as a side effect of highly acti ve antiretroviral therapy, possibly related to hyperlipidemia. Five cases o f osteonecrosis were observed among over 1300 patients with HIV disease. Ac cording to our experience, novel antiretroviral regimens do not represent a constant risk factor for avascular necrosis of bone during HIV infection.
