Abstract
The recently measured interaction cross section data for N-22, O-23, and F- 24 in a C-12 target at relativistic energies have been analysed in a few bo dy Glauber model approach. Conventional fixed core-plus-neutron model for h alo nuclei is unable to explain the observed enhanced cross section for the se nuclei by any selection of the neutron orbitals. Microscopic calculation s like many-body Monte Carlo shell model, relativistic mean field theory an d cluster model are also shown to fail in describing the large difference i f interaction cross section between O-22 and O-23. A possibility of core en largement is suggested in these nuclei. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
