Abstract
A modified policy capturing technique (N=171) was conducted to determine th e basis of perceptions of individuals with disabilities. Three distinct dim ensions were found to underlie such perceptions; overtness of the disabilit y, risk associated with the disability, and response of the individual with the disability to the environment. Furthermore, these dimensions were foun d to differentially predict various criteria such as perceived work motivat ion, predicted productivity, and the expected quality of working relationsh ips. The current study thus further demonstrates that attitudes toward indi viduals with disabilities are a complex multidimensional phenomenon.
