A. Bornheim et al., Correlated Lambda(+)(c)(lambda)over-bar(c)(-) production in e(+)e(-) annihilations at root s similar to 10.5 GeV - art. no. 112003, PHYS REV D, 6311(11), 2001, pp. 2003
Using 13.6 fb(-1) of continuum two-jet e(+)e(-) -->c (c) over bar events co
llected with the CLEO detector, we have searched for baryon number correlat
ions at the primary quark level. We have measured the likelihood for a Lamb
da (+)(c) charmed baryon to be produced in the hemisphere opposite a <(<Lam
bda>)over bar>(-)(c) relative to the likelihood for a Lambda (+)(c) charmed
baryon to be produced opposite an anticharmed meson (D) over bar; in all c
ases, the reconstructed hadrons must have momentum greater than 2.3 GeV/c,
We find that, given a <(<Lambda>)over bar>(-)(c) (reconstructed in five dif
ferent decay modes), a Lambda (+)(c) is observed in the opposite hemisphere
(0.72+/-0.11)% of the time (not corrected for efficiency). By contrast, gi
ven a (D) over bar in one hemisphere, a Lambda (+)(c) is observed in the op
posite hemisphere only (0.21 +/- 0.02)% of the time. Normalized to the tota
l number of either <(<Lambda>)over bar>(-)(c) or (D) over bar "tags," it is
therefore 3.52 +/- 0.45 +/- 0.42 times more likely to find a Lambda (+)(c)
opposite a <(<Lambda>)over bar>(-)(c) than a (D) over bar meson, This enha
ncement is not observed in the JETSET 7.3 e(+)e(-)-->c (c) over bar Monte C
arlo simulation.
