Abstract
Room temperature ESR measurements of quasi-one-dimensional halogen-bridged mixed-metal complexes Ni1-xPdx(chxn)(2)Br-3 single crystals have been carri ed out to study the competition between SDW (Ni3+) and CDW (Pd2+-Pd4+) stat es. Both the principal g-values and corresponding linewidths DeltaH(pp) dec rease monotonically as x increases, indicating that magnetic Pd3+ ions with smaller g-value than that of Ni3+ are induced from non-magnetic Pd2+-Pd4state. The good correlation between g-value and DeltaH(pp) implies that the widths are governed by spin-lattice relaxation time. These results are con sistent with the previously observed susceptibility enhancement in the mixe d metal chain.
