Abstract
The CLEO Collaboration used its 9.1 fb(-1) data sample to explore new B mes on hadronic decay paths. We report the first observation and branching frac tions of exclusive decays of the type B --> D*N (N) over barX. where N is a nucleon. We also have improved measurements of the B-0 --> Ds+D*- and B-0 --> Ds*+D*- branching fractions, and first evidence for the decay B+ --> D- s((*)+)(D) over bar (**0), where (D) over bar (**0) represents the sum of t he possible (D) over bar** states. We report the first measurement of the D -s(*+) polarization in the decay B-0 --> (DsD*-)-D-*. We report the branchi ng ratios for B --> D*pi (+)pi (-)pi (-)pi (0) decays and find that the fin al states have a sizeable D*omega (0)pi (-) component. We also observe B -- > D omega (0)pi (-) decays. The D omega (0)pi (-) appears to come from the decay of a wide 1(-) resonance with a mass of 1418 +/- 26 +/- 19 MeV and wi dth of 388 +/- 44 +/- 32 MeV. We identify this object as the rho ' or rho ( 1450). We also tested factorization in hadronic B decays using the longitud inal polarization of D*s in B --> D*D-s and D*rho '.
