The relationships between pour point, gelation temperature, borderline pump
ing temperature, mean molecular weight (M) and CH2/CH3 ratio of some base o
ils are illustrated in this paper. Data for these base oils indicate that:
gelation temperature and borderline pumping temperature show linear relatio
nships with pour point; gelation temperature and pour point decrease with C
H2/CH3; borderline pumping temperatures show linear relations with CH2/CH3
and MX (CH2/CH3).
