Abstract
The title transformation is of type eta (2)-nitrite --> eta (1)-nitrite and it occurs upon reacting carbonyl(eta (2)-nitrito)[4-methyl-6-(N-p-tolyl-im ino)phenol] bis (triphenylphosphine) ruthenium(II) with acetylene in warm C H2Cl2-MeOH medium affording carbonyl (eta (1)-nitrito) [2 - vinyl -4 - meth yl -6-(N-p-tolyl-imino) phenolate] bis(triphenylphosphine) ruthenium(II) in which the iminium function is involved in weak bifurcated hydrogen bonding with phenolate oxygen and a nitrite oxygen atom.
