The first stable spiroselenuranes bearing two oxaselenetane rings have been
synthesized, chracterized by X-ray crystallographic analysis, and shown to
be thermally reactive giving two molar equivalents of the corresponding ox
irane with elimination of elemental selenium, in sharp contrast to the beha
vior of the phosphorus and silicon analogues.
