Mh. Wu et al., Monobromination of activated aromatic compounds with polyvinylbenzyltriphenylphosphonium supported tribromide, CHIN J CHEM, 19(2), 2001, pp. 173-176
Chloromethylated crosslinked co-polyvinylbenzene-divinylbenzene (2% DVB) wa
s treated with triphenylphosphine and then with sodium bromate and hydrobro
mic acid to afford red colored insoluble polyvinylbenzyltriphenylphosphoniu
m supported tribromide. This reagent could be used as a mild and efficient
monobrominating reagent for activated aromatic compounds such as phenols, a
romatic ethers, aromatic amines and acetylanilines with good yields and hig
h pma-selectivity.
