Abstract
A case of divergent dislocation between the second metacarpal and the three ulnar metacarpals is presented. Severe edema, fragments of the trapezoid, and interposed volar ligaments prevented successful closed reduction. Open reduction enabled restoration of the carpometalcarpal complex with excellen t recovery of hand function. (J Hand Surg 2001;26A:123-129.
