Abstract
The Computer Literacy Inventory (Inventar zur Computerbildung - INCOBI) is an instrument for the assessment of computer literacy and attitudes toward the computer. It is especially suitable for applications to university stud ents of the social sciences and the humanities. The instrument includes kno wledge tests for the assessment of declarative and procedural computer know ledge, rating scales for the assessment of self-confidence in using the com puter and familiarity with the computer, and a questionnaire about the actu al computer use; attitudes toward the computer are measured by eight attitu de scales referring to different thematic fields. Employing a sample of uni versity students (N = 80), psychometric properties, intercorrelations, and correlations with variables of the actual computer use were estimated for a ll subscales. The results can be interpreted as first evidence for the reli ability and validity of the INCOBI.
