Future experiments focusing on atmospheric neutrino detection are reviewed.
One of the main goals of these experiments is the detection of an unambigu
ous oscillation pattern (nu (mu) reappearance) to prove the oscillation hyp
othesis. Further goals include the discrimination of nu (mu) - nu (tau) and
nu (mu) - nu (sterile) oscillations, and the detection of a potential smal
l nu (mu)- nu (e) contribution. The search for matter effects in three or m
ore flavour oscillations can be used to constrain hybrid oscillation models
and potentially measure the sign of deltam(2) The detectors and measuremen
t techniques proposed to achieve these goals are described, and their physi
cs reach is discussed.
