Abstract
Photodissociation dynamics of s-triazine in UV has been investigated by pro bing the HCN fragments using coherent antistokes Raman scattering (CARS) sp ectroscopy. The CARS spectra of the nu (3) band of HCN have been measured. From the Q-branch transitions in the spectra, the average rotational energi es of the fragments have been found to be 2.1 +/- 0.18 and 2.7 +/- 0.30 kca l/mol when s-triazine is photolyzed at 248 and 193 nm, respectively. Togeth er with the previously measured translational energies by other investigato rs, the dissociation dynamics has been discussed. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
