Abstract
Perylene imides are presented as novel, highly stable fluorescent standards as well as fluorescent dyes for laser applications. The absorption of the imides is adapted to the requirements of information recording by small str uctural variations. For example, a replacement of terrylene is demonstrated for the application of the tuneable rhodamine 6G dye laser.
