Abstract
Taking ferric nitrate as the precursor, Fe3(+)-doped Tio(2) nanoparticles h ave been prepared through the acid-catalyzed sol-gel method. The characteri stics of obtained Fe3+-doped Tio(2) nanoparticles have been studied by XRD and TEM techniques. Illuminated with 450w high press mercury lamp (HPML) an d natural sun light (NSL), photocatalytic oxidation of Acridine Orange (AO) has been investigated in the presence of the Fe3+-doped TiO2, nanoparticle s whose photocatalytic activities have(.)been evaluated. It is found that p hotocatalytic reactions obey first-order kinetics. TiO2, doped with 0. 10% Fe(3+)shows higher photoactivity. In the presence of 0.10% Fe3+-doped TiO2, nanoparticles, decolorization rate and degradation rate of AO are up to 92 .32%, 97.00% respectively with HPML illumination and up to 95.50%, 97.75% r espectively with NSL illumination. Fe3+-doped TiO2, nanoparticles provide a new approach for improving the photocatalytic efficiency of TiO2.
