Ys. Xu et Ddl. Chung, Cement of high specific heat and high thermal conductivity, obtained by using silane and silica fume as admixtures, CEM CONCR R, 30(7), 2000, pp. 1175-1178
Cement paste of high specific heat and high thermal conductivity has been a
ttained by using silane and silica fume as admixtures. These admixtures tog
ether cause the specific heat to increase by up to 50% and the thermal cond
uctivity to increase by up to 38%. Silane acts to increase the specific hea
t and increase the thermal conductivity. Silica fume acts to increase the s
pecific heat and decrease the thermal conductivity. Silane provides a netwo
rk of covalent coupling among the silica fume particles. The network increa
ses the compressive strength and modulus, decreases the compressive ductili
ty, enhances heat conduction through phonons, and increases the specific he
at through vibrations. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. AII rights reserved.
