Abstract
A numerical model suggests that surface stress variations associated with a lead may give a large-scale recirculation flow, Suspended ice crystals may then be transported effectively down to the bottom, where such a flow is a lso favorable for sediment entrainment. The model suggests that the ice cry stals and sediment particles may coagulate effectively if a wind episode la sts longer than about tu(*)/D similar to 30. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V.
