Claude Levi-Strauss has renewed the field of kinship studies through his ou
tstanding contribution, The Elementary Structures of Kinship. However he di
d not totally escape androcentric, naturalistic or eurocentric biases in hi
s formulations. The author deconstructs the sexist and naturalistic biases
of his alliance's theory, taking into account the historical background of
its production and new research on kinship in its relation to gender.
