In high energy nucleus-nucleus collisions (SPS, RHIC, LHC) and in cosmic ra
ys interactions, many particles are produced in the available phase space.
We make an attempt to apply the wavelets technique in order to classify suc
h events according to the event pattern and also to locate the so-called "c
lustering" in a distribution. After describing the method, we demonstrate i
ts power (a) to a single event, produced by a pion condensation theoretical
model, (b) to a sample of Pb-Pb simulated data at 158 GeV/c per nucleon ta
king into account all the experimental uncertainties.
