Abstract
Polyoxygenated cyclohexenes are a relatively special group of natural produ cts, which usually contain four chiral carbons and thus have different ster eochemistries. Although a part of the absolute configuration of compounds h ave been determined by the preparation of the derivatives, most of the abso lute configurations of the known compounds haven't been identified. In the present paper, on the basis of the established overall relative configurati ons of the molecules, circular dichroism( CD) spectroscopy - excition coupl ing was applied for the first time to determining the absolute configuratio ns of this class of compounds. A molecular mechanics calculation was made u sing Alchemy program. The spectral circular dichroism features of this clas s compounds are discussed.
