Abstract
We apply the realistic shell model which includes the coupling between many -particle (quasi-)bound states and the continuum of one-particle scattering states, called the Shell Model Embedded in the Continuum, to the spectrosc opy of mirror nuclei: F-17 and O-17, as well as to the description of low e nergy cross section (the astrophysical S factor) for El, E2 and M1 componen ts in the capture reaction O-16(p,gamma)F-17. With the same microscopic inp ut we calculate the phase shifts and differential cross section for the ela stic scattering of protons on O-16. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All righ ts reserved.
