Abstract
Ternary metal arsenides LaT4As12(T = Fe, Ru and Os) with a skutterudite-typ e structure have been prepared at high temperatures and high pressures. The se arsenides showed the superconducting transition at around 10.3 K for LaR u4As12 and 3.2 K for LaOs4As12. The T(c)s of both these arsenides are consi derably higher than those of the corresponding phosphides. LaOs4As12 is a n ew superconductor. On the other hand, LaFe4As12 did not show the supercondu cting transition down to 2 K. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights res erved.
