A sliver reduction process was studied in a low-cyanide-concentration solut
ion in which the predominant species is the ion Ag(CN);. The electrochemica
l behavior showed the presence of adsorbed electroactive species on the ele
ctrode surface and this mas corroborated with the aid of an electrochemical
quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM). The adsorption process is slow at open
circuit and under this condition a simultaneous electroless deposition of
silver nas detected with the EQCM.
