Abstract
A novel solvent system for two-dimensional thin-layer chromatography tvas s hown to simultaneously separate lysophospholipid standards, including lysop hosphatidylcholine, lysophosphatidylethanolamine, lysophosphatidylserine, l ysophosphatidylinositol, lysophosphatidylglycerol, lysophosphatidic acid, l ysosphingomyelin (sphingosylphosphorylcholine), and sphingosine-1-phosphate from diradylphospholipids, glycosphingolipids, and neutral lipids. Lysopho spholipids contained in the total lipid fraction of activated platelets wer e also well separated by the same system, The present system is a useful to ol for the metabolic and structural analysis of lysophospholipids in biolog ical samples.
