The results of a leading-order QCD analysis of neutrino-induced charm produ
ction are presented. They are based on a sample of 4111 v(mu)- and 871 (v)
over bar(mu)-induced opposite-sign dimuon events with E-mu 1, E-mu 2 > 6 Ge
V, 35 < E-v < 290 GeV and Q(2) > 5.5 GeV2, observed in the CHARM II detecto
r exposed to the CERN wide band neutrino, and antineutrino beams. The analy
sis yields the value of the charm quark mass m(c)= 1.79 +/- 0.38 GeV/c(2) a
nd the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element \ V-cd\ = 0.219 +/- 0.016.
The strange quark content of the nucleon is found to be suppressed with res
pect to non-strange sea quarks by a factor kappa = 0.39 +/- 0.09.
