Abstract
In 42 subjects with aspirin intolerant asthma, aspirin tolerant asthma and normal control subjects, oral aspirin challenges were performed in order to check cardiac parameters, both during stable asthma period and during asth ma attack induced by aspirin. The study revealed that stable asthma is not associated with any clinically significant heart rhythm disturbances. Also, the study did not reveal any differences in heart rate variability indexes between two asthma groups and control one. The study revealed that massive bronchospasm provoked by aspirin ingestion does not induce any clinically important heart rhythm disturbances but alters cardiac autonomic nervous fu nction, measured by heart rate variability indexes.
