Abstract
The fruit oil of Carum copticum showed the presence of eleven components wi th carvacrol (45.20%) and delta-cymene (41.98%) as the major constituents b y CC-MS analysis. The essential oil exhibited considerable in vitro antimic robial activity with most of the gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria t ested and the results are comparable with the standard bactericide. The pur e oil inhibited the growth of Phomopsis destructum, Aspergillus niger and A . flavus.
