Abstract
The yttrium dialkyl trans-Y(MAC)(CH2SiMe3)(2) (1; MAC = deprotonated a za-18-crown-6) has been isolated and characterized (NMR and X-ray). Co mplex 1 exhibits high stability toward ligand redistribution and metal ation, reacts with CO to form a trans-bis-(enolate) by silyl migration , and undergoes alkyl abstraction by B(C6F5)(3) to generate the highly unstable cation [Y(MAC)(CH2SiMe3)](+)[B(C6F5)3(CH2SiMe3)](-), in situ .
