Abstract
Nano-TiO2 whiskers were prepared through controlled hydrolysis of titanium butoxide. HRTEM, IR, TGA and DTA methods were used to characterize the stru cture of the nano-TiO2 whiskers. It was found that the nano-TiO2 whiskers o btained were anatase and grew selectively in the [001] direction with a dia meter of about 4nm and a length of about 40nm. Acetic acid played an import ant role in the oriented growth of nano-TiO2 whiskers. (C) 1999 Acta Metall urgica Inc.
