Abstract
A simplified analysis method for a reinforced concrete shear wall stru cture considering strain rate effects is presented. The model uses a s trut-and-tie simplified model with concrete strut and steel rebar elem ents comprising a three-element Maxwell model. The results of dynamic response analysis show very good agreement with the test results of th e ISP (International Standard Problem sponsored by OECD/NEA/CSNI) shea r wall in the nonlinear response region including at the maximum stren gth point. Some differences are observed in the elastic range and fail ure mode. The effective strain rate for increasing strength is less th an one half of the maximum strain rate and 70 percent of the root mean value in this study.
