ELECTROCHEMICAL ASPECT OF [AMINO(CARBOXY) PHTHALOCYANINATO]COBALT(II)FOR THE EFFECT ON DECOMPOSITION OF ACETALDEHYDE - NEW-TYPE OF ODOR-REMOVER AGAINST ACETALDEHYDE INCLUDED IN TOBACCO ODOR

It was investigated by cyclic voltammetry that the titled [amino (carb
oxy) phthalocyaninato] cobalt (II) can work more effective on the deco
mposition of acetaldehyde than (polycarboxyphthalocyaninato) iron (III
) from the point of electrochemical interaction. It is already reporte
d that (polycarboxyphthalocyaninato) iron (III) has catalytic activity
on the decomposition of acetaldehyde as if it works like enzyme catal
ase; however, phthalocyaninatoiron (III) has a crucial problem that it
is easily deteriorated via mu-oxo dimer in basic solution. In additio
n, from our practical experiments by the measurements of odor-decay wi
th gas inspection tubes, (tetracarboxyphthalocyaninato) cobalt (II) di
d not work on the decomposition of acetaldehyde. We propose in this ar
ticle that the titled [amino (carboxy) phthalocyaninato] cobalt (II) c
ould be a practical odor-remover against acetaldehyde included in taba
cco odor.
