Abstract
We propose a method of multiplex imaging by a frequency-ramped laser-d iode interferometer. Temporal carrier frequencies that are proportiona l to the optical path differences between the reference arm and the ob ject arms in the interferometer are introduced by a sawtooth-current m odulation of the laser diode. Electronic tuning can extract one interf erence beat signal from the multiplex ones produced by multiple object a-ms. Each interference pattern is sampled in synchronism with the la ser-diode current modulation by using an image-dissector camera. A sou rce of cross talk between multiple images is discussed. The use of a l aser-diode with a wide frequency-modulation range will be promising fo r overcoming the problem. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
