Abstract
The consequences of the interaction of the plasma with the plasma faci ng walls will be discussed. The main mechanism by which impurities are released from the walls are outlined in more detail. Following this w all conditioning will be addressed which offers the possibility to con trol some of the plasma wall interaction processes.
