The doping effects on the electric and magnetic properties in AV(2)O(5
) (A = Li, Na and Ca) have been investigated. In all these compounds,
the Curie-like increase of magnetic susceptibility at low temperature
was observed on increasing the Na(Li)-deficiency in NaV2O5(LiV2O5) or
Ti-substitution in CaV2O5, although no long-range magnetic order has e
ver appeared. In NaxV2O5, the spin-Peierls transition is suppressed by
Na-deficiency and vanishes around x = 0.97. The conductivity in NaxV2
O5 and LixV2O5 increased with doping level. The temperature dependence
of conductivity in NaxV2O5 is consistent with variable range hopping
in quasi-one-dimensional system, while LiV2O5 shows an activation type
behavior with E-a approximate to 0.3 eV in the temperature dependence
of resistivity. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
