Abstract
This article is analyzing the electorate of the Green Party in Germany between 1980 and 1996. Starting from the hypothesis that the voters o f the Greens turn grey it is investigated whether the readiness of vot ing the Greens is really following a cohort-specific pattern or whethe r the changed programmatic parry-profile is responsible for the increa sed share of votes done by elder voters. The programmatic development of the Greens is divided into six phases. It is shown that the changed program of the Greens lead to an increase of vote-shares in all age g roups. This increase is, however, strongest among the elder voters. Co here-specific effects can also be demonstrated.
