Abstract
The fission fragment anisotropies for C-12 + Pt-198 populating Po-210 are f ound to be systematically higher than that for C-12 + Pt-194, the differenc e decreasing over the energy range 1.0 less than or equal to E/V-B less tha n or equal to 1.4. The parameters required for a statistical model analysis of the data were constrained by fission cross section data and by measurin g evaporation residue cross sections. While the measured anisotropies for C -12 + Pt-194 are in agreement with the saddle point model calculations, tho se for C-12 + Pt-198 are considerably larger. The data are suggestive of a significant shell effect in the anisotropies of fission fragments emitted f rom Po-210 With neutron magic number, N = 126.
