Abstract
This paper deals with the calculation of free surface flow of viscous incom pressible fluid around the hull of a boat moving with rectilinear motion. A n original method used to avoid a large part of the theoretical problems co nnected with free surface boundary conditions in three-dimensional Navier-S tokes-Reynolds equations is proposed here. The linearised system of convect ive equations for velocities, pressure and free surface elevation unknowns is discretised by finite differences and two methods to solve the fully cou pled resulting matrix are presented here. The non-linear convergence of ful ly coupled algorithm is compared with the velocity-pressure weakly coupled algorithm SIMPLER. Turbulence is taken into account through Reynolds decomp osition and k-epsilon or k-omega model to close the equations. These two mo dels are implemented without wall function and numerical calculations are p erformed up to the viscous sub-layer. Numerical results and comparisons wit h experiments are presented on the Series 60 CB = 0.60 ship model for a Rey nolds number Rn = 4.5 x 10(6) and a Froude number Fn = 0.316.
