Abstract
The differential cross section for the Be-7(d, n)B-8 reaction at E-c.m .=5.8 MeV has been measured using a Be-7 beam produced by the radioact ive nuclear beam facility at the China Institute of Atomic Energy. The B-8 ions were detected in full geometry with a two dimensional positi on sensitive Delta E-E counter telescope. The reaction cross section w as determined to be 58+/-8 mb. The angular distribution data were anal yzed with a distorted-wave Born approximation calculation. The astroph ysical S-17(0) factor for the Be-7(p, gamma)B-8 reaction was derived t o be 27.4+/-4.4 eV b through the asymptotic normalization constant ext racted from the experimental data.
